Inter Miami was eliminated from the Champions Cup in a disastrous 1-3 loss to Monterrey

The one thing Inter Miami supporters will be pleased about on Wednesday night is that Lionel Messi made his first start after returning from injury. However, Inter Miami was ousted from the CONCACAF Champions Cup by Monterrey, a Mexican team.

Before making an appearance as a substitute against the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer action last weekend, Messi had not played since March 13.

Only two goals remained for Inter Miami to advance to an All-American semifinal matchup against the Columbus Crew in the Champions Cup quarterfinal.

Inter Miami will also not participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held in the United States, after losing to Monterrey.

The first goal of the match was scored by Brandon Vazquez of the United States men’s national team in the 31st minute thanks to a terrible error by fellow countryman Drake Callender, who effectively transferred the ball to his opponent from six yards away.
