CONGRATS: Jrue Holiday Secures Four-Year, $13M Extension with Celtics

Guard Jrue Holiday, just in time for a pivotal postseason, has committed to staying with the Boston Celtics for the foreseeable future. A four-year, $135 million deal agreement with the team was disclosed on Wednesday by Holiday’s agent, Jason Glushon. Holiday is a two-time All-Star.

“Jrue Holiday does exactly what he did three years ago in Milwaukee,” Adrian Wojnarowski stated on NBA Countdown. “Stays put for a while as they settle into a new environment. He won a title, a gold medal, and a four-year, $135 million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. He’s aiming to accomplish the same feat in Boston this year.Holiday had a chance to be a top free agent this summer, but he committed to a four-year deal, so he is no longer considered. There is now no better option for either party, but the contract will most certainly remain in effect during Holiday’s whole prime.

Jrue has played in 68 games this season, and he has posted impressive stats while defending the league’s greatest perimeter defense: 12.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game. Meanwhile, with a record of 62-17, the Celtics have been unstoppable in the Eastern Conference this season. They have only suffered three home losses all season and currently sit atop the Conference, leading by fourteen games.

Boston is the best place for Holiday to finish his career on a high note, and he’ll have the chance to do it with teammates Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis. Obviously, the most important thing is to maintain our current level of play as the greatest team in the NBA.

The Bucks Suffer a Major SetbackThe Bucks shouldn’t feel bad about dealing Damian Lillard just yet, but Jrue Holiday’s incredible performance with the Celtics makes you question if it was a good idea to trade him in the first place.

When Jrue and Giannis were on the court, Milwaukee was unstoppable and consistently ranked among the league’s top defensive teams. Everyone was taken aback by the July deal between the Bucks and Holiday, even Holiday himself, who would subsequently criticize the trade’s execution.

considerably though he was selected for his superstar potential, Lillard has been average offensively and considerably worse in every other area. The Bucks’ backcourt is extremely vulnerable because of his lack of defensive resistance.

The Bucks are in jeopardy of failing to reach 50 wins at this point in the season (they are at 48-31) and are losing games at an alarming rate since they can’t seem to stop anybody.

The midst of it all is a lot of uncertainty around Doc Rivers, Khris Middleton, and the possibility that Giannis’s injury could be the final straw.

No team, not even the Bucks, will have an easy time justifying trade Holiday if the Celtics win the NBA Finals this summer. However, with his departure and apparent lack of interest in returning, the Bucks must now adapt and cross their fingers. We can assume that Jrue is satisfied with the way things turned out last summer.
