Arsenal to battle Real Madrid for Nico Williams, Chelsea eye Barcelona sensation dubbed 'new Gerard Pique' - Paper Round - Eurosport

Too much like Madueke, you know?Chelsea should not lose sight of the fact that they have the outstanding Noni Madueke on the wings, even though Nico Williams is a world-class player. The young Englishman has made the most of his opportunities, and Mauricio Pochettino should face some criticism for benching Madueke too often this year.

Williams and Madueke are stylistically quite similar, and they both play in the same positions. Although there are certain benefits to having two fast wingers on either side, as seen with Mbappe and Dembele at PSG, Luis Enrique is the first to admit that there are also some drawbacks to this strategy.

It is crucial to have players that can compliment each other on either wing in the Premier League, as teams are starting to close gaps more and more. For instance, the Blues’ offense would be more versatile with a Palmer on one wing and a Williams or Madueke on the other.

Although Chelsea should not be too hasty in their payment for Nico Williams, doing so would not be a bad move. Pochettino or the incoming Chelsea manager has some leeway to play the Spaniard and Madueke on either wing with Palmer in the middle, or switch it up based on the opposition.

We should hold off until the summer to see whether we can finalize this accord.
