On Monday night, the Denver Nuggets finished off an astonishing comeback by a score of twenty points, which allowed them to win Game 2 against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Denver Nuggets have now defeated the Los Angeles Lakers ten times in a row, dating back to the Western Conference Finals of the previous season. They are currently leading the series 2-0 in Los Angeles.
Even though Jamal Murray, who had been struggling for the majority of the night, nailed a game-winning jumper against Anthony Davis, the majority of the attention from this game will justifiably go to him, his star teammate Nikola Jokic made NBA history with his performance.
When Jokic finished the game with 27 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists, and 2 steals, he made history by becoming the first player in the history of the NBA to get that line in a playoff game. This was Jokic’s fourth postseason game in which he had at least 20 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists, which tied him with Wilt Chamberlain for the most in the history of the National Basketball Association (according to StatHead from Basketball Reference).
After playing as well as they did for the majority of the night, the Lakers have suffered a devastating defeat on this occasion. Unfortunately for Los Angeles, this game followed a script that was similar to many of their prior defeats against Denver. They were just outplayed in the most vital stages of the game, which led to their defeat.
As was said before, Murray had a difficult time for the majority of the night, but he was able to make some incredible shots in the last minutes of the game, including the buzzer beater that won the game against Anthony Davis.
