While the win put Arsenal three points clear of second-place Liverpool, who hold a game in hand, and third-place Manchester City, who trail by one point but have two games in hand, are all within striking distance. On the flip side, Chelsea dropped to ninth place in the Premier League, three points behind seventh-place Manchester United, hurting their chances of making it to Europe.

The progression of the matchHavertz went down slowly in the penalty area after getting in behind in the first minute, but the home fans’ demands for an early penalty were put to rest by a correctly raised offside flag.

Arsenal, on the other hand, wasted little time taking the lead. The Gunners took the lead in the opening five minutes of the match thanks to a powerful shot from Trossard, who received the ball on the left side of the field. The ball sailed past Djordje Petrovic’s legs and into the back of the net, giving the squad their 100th goal for the season.

Ten minutes later, with Arsenal still in command, Takehiro Tomiyasu headed over the bar. Declan Rice then had a curling effort from the edge of the box that just fizzed past Petrovic’s goal frame.

At one point, Chelsea seemed to calm down, and they nearly scored when Nicolas Jackson’s pass bounced off Gabriel and struck the post.

After making a poor stop against Havertz, Petrovic made amends with a powerful save against Trossard.

Just before halftime, Nicolas Jackson had a golden opportunity to equalize. He climbed highest to meet a cross, but the Senegalese international hesitated, letting the ball go by his head and then into his hand.

Just after halftime, Petrovic made another save from Havertz, but Arsenal doubled their lead when White converted the resulting corner.

At the 57-minute mark, Havertz did score. The ex-Chelsea player joyfully celebrated humiliating his former club after a spectacular ball from Martin Odegaard put him through on goal.

Another one came eight minutes after that for Havertz. As if he couldn’t believe how easy things were becoming, he found an inch of space in the box and deftly put his attempt straight into Petrovic’s bottom corner.

Nearly instantly following that, the fifth one arrived. For White, it was a comical way to get his second goal, as a pass for Havertz went inadvertently past Petrovic and into the net.

Chelsea were left battered and bruised in the dying minutes of the match, with Declan Rice hitting the post and Fabio Vieira crashing into the side net. The referee eventually spared them from their suffering at the final whistle.
