The Los Angeles Lakers’ season is almost gone, so fans were quick to criticize veteran guard D’Angelo Russell when he was seen acting strangely during the game. Late in the game, during a team huddle, D’Angelo is seen entirely absorbed in a video that has gone popular among Lakers Nation.
D’Angelo scored 23 points and dished out six assists in 38 minutes of play in the second game, which was a really good showing. He was hoping for a strong game when the team returned to Los Angeles tonight, but in the end, he shot 0-7 from downtown and finished with zero points.
Russell was not at his best for this one, and he was quite frustrated with his inability to get things going all night. Darvin Ham was forced to bench D’Angelo in the end, which is most likely why he looked so bored and out of it in the closing minutes of the game.
The Lakers tried their hardest, but they were unable to stop the Denver Nuggets in the second half as they overcame the opposition and took a 3-0 series lead. Despite the 46 points that Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic scored together, Denver’s supporting group was outstanding in this game. With the starters out, the bench more than held their own as Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr. both scored over 20 points.
Even if Los Angeles’ season isn’t officially finished, the Lakers’ final opportunity to win this series before losing sends them packing. However, the Lakers have given up on a comeback and the future of the entire squad is in doubt after suffering their 11th straight loss to this team. It appears more and more likely that D’Angelo Russell in particular won’t be wearing the Purple and Gold again the following season.
D’Angelo Russell Is Likely To Be Traded In The 2024 Offseason
D’Angelo Russell’s shooting was the driving force behind the team’s run to the West Finals in the previous season. The club was able to play with much more offensive versatility when Russ was replaced by D’Lo. Russell’s ability to operate as a perimeter threat also meant that he supplied important floor spacing, which allowed the two superstars to have more space to play.
Russell was a hero for the Lakers through 76 games this season, and with averages of 18.0 points, 6.3 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game on 45.6% shooting, he was perhaps their third-best player for the majority of the campaign. Before the postseason began, his self-assurance had reached new heights, and following Game 2, he was speaking confidently about his performance in the series.
However, Russell’s career has been characterized by inconsistency, and it appears that he frequently disappears when his team most needs him. Even after a fantastic Lakers season, Russell hasn’t been able to sustain his excellence this year, and tonight in a crucial game, he injured his team.
Expect the young point guard to be traded this summer, and during the next few months, his name will undoubtedly be considered for a number of trade packages. Thankfully, following nearly ten years of nonstop chaos, Russell has become accustomed to trade talk.
