Despite prior efforts by local preservation groups to preserve the Recorded Texas Historic landmark, Hakeem Olajuwon’s enormous Clear Lake mansion—owned by the Houston Rockets legend—was razed on Friday.

According to the records kept by the Harris County Appraisal District, Olajuwon bought the land in 2006 and his business, Olajuwan Farms LLC, is still the legal owner.

The Italian Renaissance mansion, which was destroyed, was 17,000 square feet in size and included six bedrooms, twelve bathrooms, a solarium, a ballroom, a living room with two stories, and a barber’s room. Ellington Field was once part of the expansive 30,000 acres.
