In remembrance of her late daughter Gigi, Widow 42 y/o Vanessa Bryant hosts a basketball camp on her 18th birthday

In observance of what would have been Gianna “Gigi” Bryant’s 18th birthday, Vanessa Bryant is paying tribute to her late daughter.

In a post on Instagram on Saturday, May 4, Vanessa, 42, disclosed that she and her family had organized a basketball camp for both boys and girls in honor of her daughter, who passed away in 2020 along with her father, Kobe Bryant.

Vanessa shared pictures from the camp with a caption that read, “In honor of Gianna’s 18th birthday, we hosted a special @MambaMambacitaSports Skills Academy basketball camp with @nikela, @lakers, and @uscwbb to share my daughter’s PLAY GIGI’S WAY™ spirit for boys and girls from local LA community organizations.”

“Like Gigi, we were enthralled to witness their enthusiasm for basketball as they embraced happiness, inquisitiveness, and competition, never taking any chance for granted. #PlayGigisWay❤️She went on, “#HappyBirthdayGigi #18,” concluding with Gianna’s May 1 birthdate.Vanessa was seen sitting on a basketball court with her daughters, Capri Bryant, 4, Bianka, 7, and 21, at the beginning of the video, posing for pictures with a large group of kids.

The children were wearing back-to-back T-shirts with Gianna’s nickname “Gigi” on the back and the words “Mambacita” emblazoned across the front with angel wings.

Next, we saw Vanessa standing on the court with her daughters joining her. In remembrance of Gianna and Kobe, she and Natalia donned matching “Mamba” basketball jerseys, while Bianka and Capri matched sweaters.

At the camp, Vanessa was also observed interacting with young fans, signing basketballs, and taking their pictures.

On Sunday, May 5, Vanessa shared another montage video from her stay at the camp on Instagram.

In honor of her 18th birthday, she captioned the photo, saying, “Today, we brought together over 100 boys and girls from @bgcofwhittier, @wsgvbgc, and @bgclaharbor to join us at the @lakers facility for a memorable @MambaMambacitaSports Skills Academy Basketball Camp.”

“We express our gratitude to @nikeLA, @uscwbb, and all the coaches who contributed to the day’s exceptional experience 🦋 #GiannaBryant #MAMBACITA #PlayGigisWay❤️#2 🖤🤍,” the statement continued.

Vanessa stated in the video, “We’re here to celebrate Gigi’s 18th birthday,” during her address. I’m so glad you’re all here to play with delight and curiosity, just like she did.

In addition, she mentioned that the kids will receive basketballs and “Gianna’s brand-new shoes,” which are the brand-new Nike Kobe 8 Mambacita sneakers.

Vanessa wished Gianna a very happy birthday on May 1st on Instagram, writing, “Happy birthday to my darling baby, Gigi! I cherish you. You are missed. I’m very happy for you. It was your year, 2024. After high school, you would have been selecting which college to go. (I would have done everything in my power to persuade you to remain near your home). I’m glad of the progress you and your father made in the athletics world.”

“Every day, you inspire and encourage young ladies and girls like myself. “Mommy, I love you forever,” she said.
