1968 Ford Mustang Fastback 5-Speed in the Bullitt Style

Under the direction of The Mustang Workshop in Hook, United Kingdom, this 1968 Ford Mustang was constructed between 2018 and 2019. The 1968 fastback from the movie Bullitt served as inspiration for the project. The car has a Highland Green Dynacorn-painted body that is an exact copy of the original, and it is powered by a Ford Racing 347ci stroker V8 coupled to a five-speed manual Tremec gearbox. Necessary accessories include a Wilwood front disc brake system with power assistance, a Holley QFT carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, Patriot headers, a power rack-and-pinion steering system, adjustable front coilovers, Koni rear shocks, and a Holley QFT rear axle.

It was acquired by the current owner in 2022, and before bringing the car into the country, he gave The Mustang Workshop the task of installing an Old Air Products climate control system. Then, in Wallingford, Connecticut, Cobra Automotive added more modifications, including an Eaton Truetrac limited-slip differential, a Cold Case aluminum radiator, a Shelby-style steering wheel, and a Philco radio with Bluetooth connectivity. Presently offered on consignment by a dealer, this Bullitt-inspired Mustang is available in California. It includes duplicate build receipts, a clear Montana title held by the owner’s LLC, an owner’s handbook, a Deluxe Marti report, and a collection of pictures showing the refurbishment.

The Highland Green finish of the Dynacorn replica fastback body contrasts with a black taillight panel. Turn indicators mounted on the hood, a black fuel cap, and a base 1967 grille without the emblems and center bar are examples of bullitt-style elements. The reverse lights have been removed, and LED taillights and headlights that meet US standards have been installed.

Black vinyl upholstery trims the inside, while wood appliqué highlights the door panels and dashboard. Before the floor beneath the seats was painted and covered in Dynamat sound-deadening material, it was altered and lowered. A modified stock Philco radio with AM/FM and Bluetooth connectivity, an Old Air Products temperature control system, lap belts, an aftermarket sound system, and a Quartz analog clock are among the appointments.

The leather-wrapped Shelby-style steering wheel has an 8k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and other instruments. It also has a Shelby horn button. There are 1,500 kilometers indicated on the five-digit odometer, about 200 of which were added during the present owner’s tenure. We don’t know the total mileage.

Fitted with a Holley QFT carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, Patriot ceramic-coated full-length headers, a high-torque starter, a PerTronix electronic ignition system, and a Cold Case retro-style aluminum radiator that was painted black before being installed under current ownership, the Ford Racing 347ci stroker V8 was installed under previous ownership. Overlooking the engine bay is an export brace.

Power is transferred to the rear wheels via an Eaton Truetrac limited-slip differential, a Currie 9-inch rear axle with 3.50:1 ratios, and a Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission with Modern DriveLine components. Installed is a custom exhaust system with MagnaFlow mufflers and a Centerforce clutch. Red oxide primer has been used to finish the underside, and Waxoil corrosion protection has been applied.
