James was spotted sitting courtside with his wife Savannah just after the game started.Even though James won a title with the Cavaliers during his 11 years there, he will only be attending Monday’s game as a spectator.
While Cavs fans may remember cheering for James when he was in Cleveland, Celtics fans can think of plenty of instances when they did the exact opposite. Throughout his tenure with the Cavaliers, James had five playoff matchups against the Celtics, splitting the series 2-2.
While playing for the Heat, James also met the Celtics twice in the postseason.
On Monday, the Cavaliers will play Boston in an effort to win over the greatest player in franchise history. Despite taking Game 2 on the road, Cleveland lost Game 3 and fell behind 2-1 in the series.
Due to standout shooting guard Donovan Mitchell’s left calf strain, the Cavaliers will be without Mitchell in Game 4, making it more difficult to defeat the top seed. In this series thus far, Mitchell’s averages have been 31.7 points, 6.3 boards, and 5.3 assists.
By taking care of things away from home, Boston hopes to ruin James’ return. With a 3-1 lead, the Celtics have a good chance to secure a series victory before heading back to Boston.
