Re-signing with the Chicago Bulls is DeMar DeRozan’s goal.

On “Run It Back,” the six-time All-Star and former NBA guard Lou Williams discussed the future of the six-time All-Star, who will be an unrestricted free agency this summer.Prior to the start of free agency, the Bulls have the option to extend DeRozan’s contract. This season, DeRozan saw action in 79 games with the Bulls. On the court, the USC alumnus shot 48.0%, had a 33.3% field goal percentage, and an 85.3% free throw percentage, while also averaging 24.0 points, 4.3 boards, and 5.3 assists.

In the 9-10 play-in game, the Bulls prevailed against the Atlanta Hawks; but, in the 8-9 play-in game, they were defeated by the Miami Heat.

K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago, an NBA insider, reports that DeRozan was offered a two-year extension by the Bulls not long ago.

A two-year deal with a large annual pay, maybe as much as $40 million per season, was reportedly offered by the Bulls to DeRozan’s representative, according to Johnson’s reporting. “A longer-term deal is something that DeMar DeRozan is currently pursuing, but that is just part of the negotiation process.”

DeRozan was involved in a sign-and-trade with the Spurs in August of 2021, when he inked a three-year, $85 million deal with the Bulls.

While playing for the Bulls, the Spurs, and the Toronto Raptors, DeRozan averaged 21.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. Trifecta of All-NBA selections: he has.

The Bulls’ record with DeRozan on the court is 117–112. In 2022, they advanced to the playoffs, but they were eliminated in the first round by the Milwaukee Bucks in five games.

According to sources that spoke with Hoops Wire, DeRozan was being courted by the Heat, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Philadelphia 76ers during the current season. But DeRozan wasn’t being traded by the Bulls.
