The Premier League Young Player of the Season award was entirely due to Cole Palmer’s remarkable season, which frequently carries qualifiers such as “not since Eden Hazard” or “not since Frank Lampard.” Parker’s achievements were truly remarkable.
Indeed, this is the first time a Chelsea player has won the trophy since Eden Hazard in 2013–14; nevertheless, Hazard won the PFA trophy, as the Premier League only began presenting this honor a few years ago. Plus, Hazard had played for both France and England for five complete seasons before to this. Palmer is an absolute greenhorn.
By any measure, Palmer’s season has been fantastic. The debut season for a summer signing that was met with nothing but ridicule and perplexity by most observers has been nothing short of spectacular, with 32 goal involvements (22 goals, 10 assists) in only 33 games.
Plus, he’s probably just beginning now. We are in for a real treat if his career follows in the footsteps of Hazard and Lampard.
Wow, Cold Palmer, you win!
