After the New York Knicks failed to defeat the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals at home, former Boston Celtics player Paul Pierce had some p lans for his Jalen Brunson jersey.
Following the elimination of the Knicks, Pierce shared a video on his social media accounts in which he repeatedly stomped on his recently acquired jersey.
How about it, buddy? For what?” “Stomp on Brunson’s jersey,” Pierce remarked. Tell me what you think. Are you two still in touch? Quit being a hermit.
Then, Pierce addressed the Knicks supporters with a special message.
Get over it, Knicks supporters; the season is done. Stop being so naive.Goodbye, however. In the first round of the playoffs, the former Celtics great and the Knicks fans made a bet. They bet that if the Knicks won against the Philadelphia 76ers, the former star would buy a jersey for Brunson. Although the Sixers were eliminated in the first round, Pierce remained true to his promise and purchased the jersey.
However, Pierce no longer has any motivation to don the jersey as the Knicks have been eliminated from the playoffs.
Too many injuries derailed New York’s chances of beating the Pacers. As he attempted to seize the ball from Tyrese Haliburton in the middle of the third quarter of Game 7, even Brunson fractured his hand. A former All-Star only had 29 minutes of playing time before being benched.
Over the course of six games versus the Pacers, Brunson averaged 31.8 points, 2.7 boards, and 5.7 assists. In two of the games, he scored 40 or more points.
