It’s common knowledge that Kevin Durant and the Warriors are currently on the verge of a championship drought. With an agreement to get back together in the offseason and rekindle their cooperation on the court, that might all change.

Two championships and two Most Valuable Player awards in those two seasons followed for the All-Star forward. He and the Warriors were both let down after they lost to the Raptors in 2019, ending their three-game winning streak.

 

After his time in Bay Area, Durant decided to join the Brooklyn Nets the next year. The two-time Finals MVP has failed to achieve any significant playoff success following his three-year tenure there. Many are wondering if Kevin Durant would remain in the Valley or try to negotiate a trade with another team during the offseason after his team, the Phoenix Suns, were recently swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves and Anthony Edwards.

Put such concerns aside for a moment and remember that the Suns are among the few teams with a win-now schedule that is as urgent as possible. The Warriors are determined to put a strong squad around Stephen Curry, who still has two years left on his contract. “Despite the health risks associated with Durant’s upcoming 36th birthday, he is likely to be a more valuable short-term contributor than Kuminga, Wiggins, or Moody,” Hughes said.
