At the grand opening of the refurbished sports facilities at Nickerson Gardens, California, Vanessa Bryant, the Lakers, and the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation all worked together. Fulfilling Kobe Bryant’s dream of a future where young boys and girls have equal opportunity to pursue their ambitions in sports and life, this program seeks to empower local youngsters with opportunities to excel both on and off the court.For the benefit of underprivileged athletes and youth sports, the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation provides financial and in-kind support. The Lakers and Vanessa Bryant’s dedication to community service is on full display in this endeavor. The new athletic facilities at Nickerson Gardens are a blessing for the children who attend the school. Over 1,300 youngsters are among the more than 3,000 residents of Nickerson Gardens who now benefit from the refurbished areas.

Vanessa Bryant and the Lakers Foundation selected Nickerson Gardens for this project in part because it was once the Boys and Girls Club where Kobe Bryant sponsored his kids basketball program, “Mamba League.” Brian Peterson, a muralist and lifelong Kobe admirer, was the one behind the artwork. “My all-time favorite project to paint.” He enthusiastically showed his enthusiasm. The artwork took eleven days to finish, with Peterson and his helpers working twelve-hour shifts.

 

 

Many players looked up to Kobe Bryant, and he was always there to encourage the league’s up-and-coming stars. His legacy will endure because his “mamba mentality” ideology serves as a guiding guideline for players.
