Barcelona set for €10M windfall as ex-defender heads to the Premier League

As a result of Barcelona’s limited financial resources and the fact that the club is in need of player departures in order to regain its financial equilibrium, the club’s headquarters are grateful for any source of revenue.

Given that one of the Catalans’ former players is expected to bring in a monetary boost, it would appear that the Catalans are on the verge of experiencing a financial windfall.

Real Betis reach agreement with Crystal Palace to sell Chadi Riad

The transfer agreement between Real Betis and Crystal Palace for Chadi Riad is reportedly very close to being finalized, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

Barcelona is entitled to earn fifty percent of the fees that are generated by the transfer, and the agreement is believed to be worth fifteen million euros plus a further two million euros’ worth of variables. This brings about a total of nine million euros for Barca, in addition to an additional one million euros in variables.

Furthermore, as was previously agreed upon, Betis will spend three million euros on FC Barcelona this summer in order to acquire fifty percent of Chadi Riad’s transfer.

As a result, Barcelona will receive a total of €9 million net, in addition to €1 million in variables, for the sale of 100% of Chadi Riad’s rights, while Betis will receive €6 million.

While Betis are earning a lower sum compared to Barcelona, in order to dodge the Blaugranes’ €7 million buy-back option in 2025, which would only provide Betis with a €4 million profit, the decision to offload Riad this summer makes sense.

Last year, Riad departed Barcelona in search of greater playing time. Now, his promising season with Betis has earned him a place with the Morocco national team and an increase in his market value.

Given that Riad would receive a big boost in his salary for playing in the Premier League, the player and his representatives are eager to finalize the deal as soon as possible.

Therefore, Barcelona can expect to receive their financial injection soon, which would be more than welcome ahead of the summer transfer window.
