The long-standing friendship between Stephen Curry and Cameron Brink’s parents predates the birth of either basketball superstar or WNBA rookie, Cameron Brink and Curry
The basketball gene is shared by the Curry and Brink families.
The Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry and the Los Angeles Sparks’ 2024 WNBA draft pick Cameron Brink have known each other since they were kids.
Their parents actually knew each other before to their birth! Stephen Curry was born to college sweethearts Dell and Sonya Curry, who crossed paths while playing sports at Virginia Tech.
Greg and Michelle Bain-Brink met and fell in love at Virginia Tech; their son Cameron was a star forward for Stanford. They first crossed paths in 1985 while they were both varsity basketball players.
The Brinks became godparents to the Curry children and the Currys to Cameron as a result of their friendship at Virginia Tech. This means that Steph is Cameron’s godbrother, a connection that the NBA star discussed at a news conference in 2021.
Following Sonya’s WNBA draft, Cameron acknowledged her in an ESPN interview. “My godmother, Sonya Curry, is over there,” she pointed out, indicating Sonya, who was present at the WNBA Draft alongside the Stanford football player. “Hi, Godmama.”
Because of their family tree, Cameron is also godsister to Stephen, Seth, and Sydel. Steph and Seth are tremendous inspirations to me, so their support is invaluable, the Sparks player told PEOPLE in March.
What follows is an analysis of the familial bond between Stephen Curry and Cameron Brink. The NBA and WNBA players have a cоmmоn bоnd thrоugh their gоdparents, but they are nоt related by blооd.
Cameron’s biological parents, Greg and Michelle Bain-Brink, are Stephen’s godparents. Dell and Sonya Curry are Stephen’s biological parents, and they are also Cameron’s godparents.
Cameron has had a close bond with Stephen since she was a small girl, and now she is the godsister of Stephen. Seth, his biological brother, and Sydel, his sister, are both godsiblings of hers.
Cameron’s mom frequently uses her Instagram to honor her godchildren. In 2018, she remembered her goddaughter Sydel’s part in her wedding and wrote a touching birthday message to her.
“Now she’s married and twenty-four years old, just 22 years ago this radiant light scattered rose petals as we walked down the aisle 😏😏😍😍.” She captioned the carousel of throwback photographs with “Happy birthday to my beautiful and inspiring Goddaughter- love you baby girl!!!”
Michelle sent Stephen a flashback photo in June 2022. She posted a snapshot of the young basketball player with the remark, “To whom much is given… you know the rest ❤️ so proud of your accomplishments- even more proud of who you are ❤️.”Basketball is the unifying factor in Stephen and Cameron’s families, but it was their mutual love for the Hokies at Virginia Tech that first brought them together.

I spent some time with her, offered her some advice, and she was working on her jumper. “My dad did as well,” the 10-time All-Star addressed the press before the 2021 NCAA tournament.
Stephen, widely recognized as one of the all-time great shooters, has also spoken of his admiration for her progress from her childhood. “In terms of [her] development, you put the work and the time in, every year, you’re going to get better,” he told reporters at the time. “She’s taken advantage of that.”
Stephen had already predicted that Cameron would continue to improve before she joined the WNBA. Presently, there isn’t much I need to inform her. It has been remarkable to observe her as she has taken off.Cameron said in March that she had Stephen’s support before the Los Angeles Sparks selected her in the 2024 WNBA Draft in April. Cameron told PEOPLE that her godbrothers were “really excited” when she announced her intention to enter the military on March 12, following four “life-changing” years at Stanford.
“Steph made this funny video, which I’m laughing about because my parents showed me before they put it on ESPN, and he was like, ‘League her.’ He always says that, which I think is funny,” said Cameron.
