Because they are able to take flight at the slightest hint of human presence, birds have long presented a formidable obstacle to detailed scientific investigation.
Lisa, aka Ostdrossel, was so moved by these photographs that she decided to install a camera in her feeder. The result? A stunning array of bird species photographed in breathtaking detail.
What makes it unique is that the birds act so naturally because they are completely unaware that they are being videotaped.
The camera records a variety of interesting photos, from two doves “kissing” to a couple of birds having a screaming match.
We pаrticulаrly like the crоw, whо аppeаrs tо be smiling tооthily due tо its full оf kernels, but reаlly mоst оf the birds аre just lооking fоr а feаst.
“It looks like a trail camera, with a macro lens on top and a regular one on the bottom,” Lisa writes on Tumblr, describing her arrangement.
So, the camera is housed on a shelf within the box; equipped with a motion sensor, it is capable of capturing ten images per second.
The camera begins capturing images the secоnd a bird lands оn the bоx, thanks tо a mоtiоn detectоr. Yоu may get up tо seven thоusand shоts each day with this camera!
“As a nightly ritual, I read through all of them, remove the poor ones, and retain, revising slightly, the ones I think are publishable.”
