Many astonished fans took to the comment area to express their disbelief at the spelling mistake, with others writing, “Who’s DeWayne???” Moreover, “Welp somebody is off jumbotron graphic duties.”

As Wade shares a taste of his family’s outing at the arena on Instagram, Kaavia is highlighted throughout the carousel. She is seen in two shots: one of her father and her holding a basketball on the sidelines, and another of her receiving a lovely embrace from player Angel Reese.

In recognition of Wade’s efforts to advance transgender rights, the Elevate Prize Catalyst Award was bestowed upon him last week. In 2020, with the support of her father and family, his eldest daughter Zaya, who is sixteen years old and whom he shares with his ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches, came out publicly as transgender.

Wade accepted the honor and referred to it as a “Wade family award.”

Everything we do as a family, even this, is simply a part of the Wade dynamic. In this arena, we believe that having acceptance is crucial if you want to make the world a better place,” he stated.
The father-and-daughter team has been hard at work on Translatable, an online platform for LGBTQ+ adolescents that they hope will serve as a refuge for the sharing of creative works like poetry and photography. For anyone who want to learn more about gender identity, the platform will also have instructional materials.
“She didn’t ask for this extra excitement in life,” the basketball star said, praising Zaya for her activism. She yearned to revert to her childhood, playfully engage in innocent pursuits, and care just about herself. Worrying for you is the normal behavior for someone her age. However, as a father, I am incredibly proud of her because she is considering the greater good of the community.
