Liverpool isn’t planning to keep their “great” player, thus he may be able to get out of there cheaply this summer

Under Arne Slot’s tutelage, Liverpool’s roster for the upcoming season might appear drastically different.

It appears like the Reds will be going through a transitional moment as Slot will need time to establish his own impact on the club.

Even before the season begins, the Dutchman will have a clear vision of his ideal Liverpool roster. For instance, it is stated that Slot singled out Darwin Nunez as a pivotal character.

Slot may not have complete control over all choices going forward, though, due to the new organizational structure that FSG is instituting above the head coach.

It appears that the fate of certain marginal players has already been determined, while others will get an opportunity to impress the new coach during pre-season.

The Reds are not intending to retain Philippe van den BergWhile playing for Slot, several Liverpool players will be seeking a new beginning.

Some players, like Fabio Carvalho and Tyler Morton, who were loaned out, have excelled for their new teams and are supposedly trying to get back into the main team.

Defensive back Sepp van den Berg is another player who has been outstanding when not playing for Liverpool. Speculation has circulated that the 22-year-old, who has been a staple for Mainz this season, may also get a shot next.

But journalist David Lynch has stated in an interview with Anfield Index that Van den Berg is not expected to be part of Liverpool’s plans. Lynch confirmed his suspicions when asked whether the defender’s loan agreement included a low release clause.

According to the reporter, “I absolutely believe that” when asked about the existence of a clause as low as £4.2 million. I suppose Mainz would want to capitalize on his strong performance there, regardless of Liverpool’s intentions, but it does feel bad because he had a great season there. If it’s that low, they would likely activate that.

We will have to wait for confirmation from Van den Berg regarding his intentions. However, considering how well the player has done there, it does seem low.

“That one looks unfortunate, but I really doubt that he will be a long-term part of Liverpool’s ambitions, whatever of his decision regarding his future with the club. However, it will be intriguing to observe whether that is activated and the precise figures that are calculated.
