The three-time LaLiga Golden Boot winner is Portuguese.
There is no stopping Cristiano Ronaldo. The 39-year-old Portuguese phenomenon is still developing. After the Saudi Pro League 2023–24 season is finally over, Ronaldo is the official top scorer, even if it appeared inevitable for a while.
Ronaldo had 31 games in the Saudi Premier League, where he scored an incredible 35 goals. He discovered his name on another record while doing this. The previous record holder for most goals scored in a single Saudi League season was Abderrazak Hamdallah. In the 2018–19 campaign, the Moroccan scored 34 goals in all.
The Portuguese international came two goals short of accomplishing this feat against Hamdallah’s current team, Al Ittihad, in the league’s final match. Was it possible for him to surpass the 34-goal mark? Indeed. By the 70th minute, Ronaldo had already scored two goals, breaking the Saudi single-season record.
After the Saudi League 2023–24 concluded, Ronaldo was awarded the Golden Boot. Another record resulted from this. How many players have won four different national championships as the highest scorer? Just One.
Cristiano Ronaldo was able to set a new record thanks to his SPL Golden Boot. He becomes the only football player in history to be the top scorer in four different premier divisions across four different nations.
It all began during his Manchester United days in the 2007–08 season. After 31 goals in 34 league games, the player won his first-ever Golden Boot at the end of the season. The winger who eventually became a goal scorer was back at it in the 2011–12 La Liga season, hitting 40 goals after moving to Real Madrid of Spain from England.
Ronaldo went on to win two more Golden Boots in the 2013–14 and 2014–15 seasons while playing for Real Madrid. Then, in Italy, he began a legendary new chapter in his career. With Juventus, a 29-goal total during the 2020–21 Serie A season was sufficient to win the top scorer award.
The Portuguese sensation then left United following a pretty awful second tenure and relocated to Saudi Arabia in January 2023. He won the Saudi Pro League’s Golden Boot in his debut season, and as a result, he went on to win the top scorer title in four separate nations.
The 39-year-old will be seen more this summer as he prepares to play for his country, Portugal, in the Euro 2024, which begins in mid-June.
