This 1960 Chevrolet Corvair 700 sedan was found by the seller in Southern California in 1995, and their father later purchased it. This car boasts a 140ci Turbo-Air flat-six engine that is paired with a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission.
It has been refurbished and is painted a lush green color that is enhanced by green vinyl upholstery and fabric. The 13-inch steel wheels with shiny hubcaps, the push-button radio, the fuel heater, the polished trim, and the lap belts are noteworthy features. On behalf of their parents, the seller is now offering this Corvair sedan for sale with no reserve, complete with factory literature, spare parts, and an owner-owned, clean Idaho title.
First produced in Cascade Green, the Corvair is the only unibody vehicle that Fisher Body has ever produced. The vehicle was refinished in 1995—the year it is now owned—with four layers of clearcoat. It has shining bumpers, a rear decklid with vents, and quad headlights, but the paint has some chips in it.
13-inch steel body-colored wheels with polished hubcaps are mounted on 185/80 BFGoodrich whitewall tires. Coil springs are used throughout the Corvair’s factory independent suspension, with swing axles at the back. The braking system consists of drum brakes at every corner, which are expected to be updated in 2021.
Inside, the cabin boasts green fabric and vinyl seating surfaces, albeit with noted stains and fraying. Interior features include an aircraft-style gasoline heater, a push-button radio, and lap belts. The headliner and door gaskets have been replaced, though the left-rear door lock is described as “sticky.”
The two-spoke steering wheel, featuring a chrome horn ring, frames a horizontal 100-mph speedometer and a fuel level readout. The first digit of the five-digit odometer is obscured, with approximately 25k miles added under current ownership.
The rear-mounted, air-cooled 140ci Turbo-Air flat-six engine was originally rated at 80 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque. Work performed in 2024 included rebuilding the carburetors, flushing the fuel tank, and replacing the fuel pump. The seller notes valve chatter upon startup.
Power is directed to the rear wheels through a two-speed Powerglide automatic transaxle.
