Mika Faye is one of many Barcelona players facing an uncertain future in Catalonia even after the arrival of Hansi Flick.

Regarded as one of the most talented defensive talents from the Barça Athletic, Faye has made quite an impression in the lower leagues and is pushing for a place in the first-team next season.

 

Barcelona, for their part, are not averse to the idea of giving Faye a promotion to the senior team this summer. But the youngster is attracting a load of suitors, which has led Barça to delay their decision over the player’s future.

Arsenal poised to make a move

According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal are expected to make a move for Mikayil Faye in the coming days.

It appears Mikel Arteta is a huge admirer of the young Senegalese centre-back, who has even made his international debut in March. He notably scored in his debut against Gabon.

Faye’s performances have not gone unnoticed and Arsenal are joined by a slew of other top European clubs in the race to sign the young defender.

Two scenarios for Mika Faye

As Barcelona anticipate a potential bid from Arsenal, the club are left with two probable decisions to choose from.

Faye, for his part, has no desire to continue at Barça Athletic for another year. He could either make an impact in the first-team next season or leave the club on a permanent deal.

Barcelona’s idea is to incorporate Faye into the pre-season camp in the United States, thereby giving Hansi Flick an opportunity to properly assess the youngster.

However, until then, things could get too late, especially if Arsenal pushing for a transfer. The coming few weeks, therefore, could prove to be crucial as Barcelona make a definitive decision on the future of Mika Faye.
