Harry Kane achieved a memorable milestone when scoring for England after surpassing Ronaldo De Lima’s record

Harry Kane achieved a memorable milestone when scoring for England in a 3-0 victory over Bosnia & Herzegovina in a friendly match preparing for EURO 2024.

The “Three Lions” led Bosnia and Herzegovina by 2 goals thanks to Cole Palmer’s penalty and Trent Alexander Arnold’s goal. Despite only being on the field for about 30 minutes from the bench, Kane still impressed with the goal that sealed a 3-0 victory for England with a close-range finish after a chaos in front of goal.

That was Kane’s 63rd goal at the national team level, helping the Bayern Munich striker surpass the legendary “fat” Ronaldo. The former Real Madrid striker is considered by many to be the greatest “number 9” in international football history, but Kane’s numbers are even more impressive than his predecessor. Specifically, Kane scored 63 goals in 90 matches for England, while Ronaldo scored 62 goals in 98 matches for Brazil.

After the match, Kane eased all worries about the back injury he suffered at the end of last season. The England captain said: “I feel fine. I took most of the end of the season off as a precaution, of course because there is an important summer coming up.

I don’t want to risk my injury. Finally, it was also a good opportunity to rest after a difficult season. It almost worked in my favor to miss the end of the season. I got a chance to rest a little more than expected. I’m not someone who takes too long to get back in shape and it was great to get a goal to get that feeling back.”

In this match, it is not surprising that coach Gareth Southgate decided to experiment with the squad. Players who have not yet played for England many times, such as Marc Guehi, Kieran Trippier, Eberechi Eze, Conor Gallagher and Ollie Watkins, are all in the starting lineup.

This is the first time since November 1994, when England met Nigeria at Wembley, that the “Three Lions” took the field with a starting lineup without a single player from Arsenal, Man City, MU or Tottenham.

Southgate explained the reasons behind his team selection before the match kicked off. “Some players need to play, they have been together for five or six days and have not played for a few weeks, so this match is beneficial for them. And also an opportunity to see some combinations and evaluate each player in different positions,” he said.
