On social media, James proclaimed his joy at the news. “Well done, Anthony! You’ve earned it!” He expressed his admiration for Claytor’s graduation speech and video on X (previously Twitter). In 2020, the president of the institute, Todd Diacon, made an announcement regarding a group of I PROMISE students who would get four years of tuition and one year of room and board, as per the LJFF and Kent State University. The first person in his class to graduate was Claytor, a native of Akron, Ohio, and one of those awardees.

While still a high school student, he worked double time by enrolling in postsecondary courses at the University of Akron, paving the way for his acceptance to Kent State. According to the university and LJFF, he was able to acquire two semesters’ worth of credits before he even entered. According to the announcement, Claytor expressed the following: “If I had gone to another school, like the University of Akron, I would not have had the opportunity to live on campus, meet new people, build relationships, or join organizations.” This stems from her previous concerns about the debt that comes with tuition. The ability to accomplish that at Kent State is something I truly enjoy.
