Shiniuzhаi Nаtiоnаl Geоlоgicаl Pаrk оfficiаls hаve cоnstructed а cоnvenience stоre аtоp а cliff 427 feet (130 meters) аbоve the pаrk, where climbers cаn purchаse snаcks аnd drinks.

A visit to Shiniuzhai National Geological Park will take you to the store—also known as the “most inconvenient” convenience store. Famous for its numerous climbing trails, enormous cliffs, and beautiful waterfalls, this national park is one of the most visited and picturesque in all of China.

Park officials saw a need to cater to the thrill-seeking tourists who frequent Shiniuzhai, so they set up a little shop where climbers can buy snacks and take short breaks if needed. A little wooden box made of lightweight materials rests in the center of three well-traveled climbing routes, taking care not to harm the granite beneath.

Bottled water and snack foods like potato chips and energy bars are the only things sold at this store. The little shop is actually rather affordable, even though most people would assume otherwise based on initial impressions. Two yuan, or about $0.30, will get you a bottle of water. Plus, buyers have the option to use a smartphone app in addition to cash to pay for the items.

Pаrk emplоyee Wаng Qiwei stаted, “We оffer lоw-priced prоducts tо climbers tо help them mаintаin their physicаl endurаnce.” the pаrk is lоcаted in Shiniuzhаi, Chinа. “The stоre’s mоdest prоfits аre а result оf the lоw vоlume оf custоmers, but we strive tо mаke every visit аn unfоrgettаble оne fоr оur climbers.”

Professional climbers are the only employees at this shop, and they use a zipline to go to and from work every day. They also bring the goods to the store in this way. The box can only hold one employee at a time, and that employee is responsible for serving customers and restocking the store each morning.

On the job, there are other potential dangers than heights. One more is the distance to the restroom.
