With an initial offer of approximately 25 million euros, Borussia Dortmund is prepared to make Ian Maatsen’s loan move permanent.
Ian Maatsen had a fantastic loan stint with Borussia Dortmund during the season’s second half, and he was an integral part of Dortmund’s journey to the UEFA Champions League final. After becoming interested in him on a permanent basis, the Black and Yellows will put Chelsea to the test with a bid of about 25 million euros.
The news comes from Fabrizio Romano, who also says that the two teams are planning to meet soon to discuss the matter.
The current Chelsea contract that Maatsen is under includes a release clause that would allow him to leave the club for 35 million euros. Several other teams are anticipated to join the competition to recruit the left-back, therefore it is unclear if the Premier League side would accept a cost lower than the release clause.
Maatsen has maintained his happiness at Borussia Dortmund throughout his loan period and has expressed a strong desire to remain with the club after it ends. Even though BVB’s management is interested in signing the 22-year-old, they will have to find another option if they and Chelsea can’t agree on a fair transfer fee.
One of the world’s best young left backs, Ian Maatsen’s future plans are intriguing to consider. His 23 appearances for Borussia Dortmund in all competitions last season saw him score three goals and assist on two more.
