On Friday, June 7, the NBA and Celtics accounts published an Instagram photo of the 26-year-old player and his 6-year-old son Jayson “Deuce” Christopher Tatum Jr., in which the two appear to be practicing the same 3-point play that they executed in the 2022 NBA Finals.

The Instagram Reel begins with a vintage clip from the 2022 NBA Finals, showing a 4-year-old Deuce tossing the ball to his dad just before he makes a spectacular shot that goes into the basket. After that, we cut to the finals this year, where we see Deuce, now considerably bigger, dribbling the ball to his dad, who makes another 3-pointer. In a post that was captioned, “Father & son, making memories at the Finals!” the sports league and the victorious team from Thursday night’s finals game said.

Tatum told PEOPLE in March that Deuce is prepared to take over from him.

“He just started playing basketball on the organized team,” Tatum told PEOPLE exclusively as he discussed his new role as Coach’s ambassador. So it seems like he’s developing a serious passion for the game. That’s fascinating.You might recognize Deuce from his frequent appearances on the sidelines at his dad’s NBA games. Tatum has said that Deuce likes Spider-Man, so it seems like he’s a creature of habit! Celtics fans will recognize him immediately.

Wearing either a miniature replica of his dad’s jersey or Celtics green, Deuce will cheer for the Boston team while hurling the enormous basketball about. According to Tatum’s interview with PEOPLE, Deuce takes after his fashion-forward dad by choosing his own attire for game days.

“His favorite thing is to look in the mirror and be like, ‘Daddy, look, I’m fresh-fresh,'” said Tatum. This is something he says now that he’s older. A new side to his character is emerging. More and more, he’s expressing his personal style through his clothing choices.
