In a now-viral tweet from the NBA Finals, Shaquille O’Neal denied being high, writing, ‘Everybody Knows I’m a Hookah Man’

After a joke post went viral suggesting that Shaquille O’Neal and NBA legend Paul Pierce had consumed cannabis treats during Game 2 of the NBA Finals, O’Neal wasted no time correcting the record.

Some X (previously Twitter) users gave 52-year-old O’Neal and 46-year-old Pierce the meme treatment when they were shown sitting courtside at TD Garden in Boston on the ABC broadcast, drawing attention to Pierce’s worried face and O’Neal’s sunglasses.

Podcaster Travonne Edwards posted a screenshot of O’Neal and Pierce with the caption “this edible ain’t s—” and two laughing emojis, which became one of the most popular postings regarding their look.

However, the ex-Celt replied in third person to emphasize that he does not use edibles when he saw the post the following day.”Shaq, you are not meant to do edibles, and you should cease attempting to gain attention through your foolish tweets,” O’Neal stated in response to Edwards.

“Shaq brother, I believe they were referring to Pierce,” remarked one user.

A different individual stated, “Should’ve told Paul Pierce to throw some sunglasses too.”During Game 2 in Boston, O’Neal and Pierce appeared to be in a nice mood. The retired players found amusement in a video that NBA on TNT broadcast, in which O’Neal feigned to be sleeping in his seat just before the game began. This further added to the jokes about how relaxed he was.

O’Neal said that the Celtics couldn’t possibly stop Dallas sensation Luka Doncic, but the Mavericks rallied to take a two-game lead in the series.

The Celtics are shorthanded when it comes to guarding Luka Dončić. In this series, Dallas is my favorite. O’Neal expressed his approval of their performance on May 30.

On Wednesday, June 12, at 8:30 p.m. ET, the third game of the series between the Mavericks and the Celtics will begin.
