Cristiano Ronaldo had remarkable shares before joining Portugal on the journey to conquer EURO 2024.
The 39-year-old superstar said: “The most important thing is that I am healthy both physically and mentally. I am prepared, I always prepare in the best way, I am 100% professional. I will always be ready to help the team at the upcoming EURO and respect the coach’s decisions.”
Ronaldo did not start in Portugal ‘s last two matches at the 2022 World Cup, including a 0-1 defeat to Morocco in the quarterfinals. According to Portuguese coach Fernando Santos at that time, sitting on the bench made CR7 feel uncomfortable.
However, Roberto Martinez, Portugal’s current coach, recently praised Ronaldo as “unique”. The 39-year-old superstar has just had an impressive personal season, with 44 goals and 13 assists for Al Nassr in all competitions.
Ronaldo also kicked off his record-extending sixth EURO with an impressive performance in Portugal’s 3-0 friendly victory over the Republic of Ireland on June 12. CR7 scored twice to bring his total record number of goals at the national team level to 130.
When asked if Portugal can repeat the 2016 feat, Ronaldo said: “The goal must be like that, be positive, take it step by step. No one taxes dreams and the current Portuguese squad has the talent to dream. Nothing can be achieved without hard work, we must work and fight.
We need to take advantage of this generation of talent to do something beautiful at EURO 2024. But I repeat again: talent alone is not enough. We have to work. We want to start the tournament in Germany in the best possible way.”
Portugal is considered one of the candidates to win EURO 2024. According to the schedule, “European Brazil” will start the Group F campaign with a match against the Czech Republic on June 19. After that, Ronaldo and his teammates will face Türkiye (June 22) and Georgia (June 27).
