Lamine Yamal brings his HOMEWORK with him to Euro 2024… as the Spain wonderkid, 16, admits he hopes ‘his teachers don’t get mad at him’

Lamine Yamal, a young talent from Spain, has disclosed that he has carried his homework with him to the Euro 2024 tournament.

During the previous season, Yamal, who is now 16 years old, made his debut with Barcelona. He was just 15 years old at the time.

As a result of the winger’s rapid development into a crucial player for the Catalan giants, he was finally called up to the national team for the first time in September 2023, just before he scored his first goal for the squad in their match against Georgia. This resulted in the 16-year-old player becoming the youngest player in La Roja’s history to ever play for the team and score a goal.

Since then, Yamal has earned seven caps, and it is highly likely that he will be an important player for the team that Luis de la Fuente will be leading in Germany this summer.

And Yamal, who will turn 17 on July 13, said that his attention would not be just on football after landing in the country ahead of Spain’s opening match against Croatia on Saturday. Yamal gave this explanation after arriving in the country.

“By virtue of the fact that I am in the fourth year of ESO, I brought my homework here,” he explained.

I am also taking classes online, and everything is going well with those. The instructor is going to be upset with me, I really hope.

Students who are between the ages of 12 and 16 are required to participate in the ESO, which is the third stage of the education system in Spain.

On the field, Yamal is coming into the tournament on the heels of a successful club season for Barcelona, during which he racked up five goals and eight assists, and he was relied on on a regular basis by his old manager, Xavi.

The 16-year-old is one of a number of brilliant young players that will be a part of La Roja’s squad for the 2024 European Championship. If he is selected to play, he will become the youngest player in the history of the tournament.

Alongside him is Nico Williams, a star player for Athletic Bilbao who is 21 years old. Additionally, Yamal’s teammate from Barcelona, Pau Cubarsi, who is 17 years old, was included in De La Fuente’s provisional 29-man roster for the tournament before he was eliminated.

Furthermore, when considering Yamal’s potential, De La Fuente was full of admiration for the young man, who is only 16 years old.

The individual, who is 62 years old, recently stated to Reuters that “this kind of footballer is a special breed.”

‘It’s unusual for a 16-year-old boy to have that kind of self-confidence, the ability to play and look like a veteran. Because only the chosen ones have that.

‘I’m not surprised by their (Yamal, Cubarsi and Williams) potential and I think that we coaches need to give them the opportunity, balance, security and stability and help them to enjoy the moment.

‘(We need) to be responsible and to put their talent, that super talent they have, at the service of the collective so the entire team grows and thrives.’

Along with Croatia, Spain will take on Italy and Albania in Group B as they look to put their embarrassing exit at the last-16 stage of the 2022 World Cup behind them.
