Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has recently been asked to increase his prison sentence for tax evasion in Spain.
Ancelotti was asked for a 5-year prison sentence
Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of Real Madrid, has been recommended for a longer prison sentence by the Office of the Spanish Prosecutor. The investigation found that the Italian coach received image copyright payments and failed to declare taxes payable in 2014 and 2015, using “tricks” to avoid paying taxes. It is crucial to understand that the defendant committed tax fraud by forcing the value of their forced savings to surpass 120,000 euros annually, which is against Spanish law.
El Mundo alleged that Ancelotti used a company named Vapia Limited, which is situated in the British Virgin Islands, one of the most well-known tax havens in the world, to escape income tax related to image rights. These documents were filed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office to the Spanish Court.
Recently, the Spanish Prosecutor’s Office found that Ancelotti had moved a further 2.5 million euros to a foreign firm in order to avoid paying taxes. This payment was paid following Ancelotti’s signing of advertising contracts with companies like Nike, Nexon Europe, or Cecil Purnell, according to the research.
The amount of Ancelotti’s fraud was estimated by the Spanish Treasury to be 386 thousand euros in 2014 and 675 thousand euros in 2015. Thus, Public Office Spain has asked to extend Real coach Carlo Ancelotti’s prison sentence to five years, from the original four years and nine months.
