Strange marine ‘dinosaur’ about three feet in length and equipped with hard-plate armor discovered on beach

A man who has become adept at recognizing these creatures has discovered a beached three-foot-long marine beast in Virginia, US. It resembles a legless crocodile and has buck teeth.

A massive armored marine beast washed up on an uninhabited beach.

While driving across Assateague Island in Virginia, US, Allen Sklar noticed a creature lying still on the beach and promptly drew up to examine it more closely.

It did not take long for it to be recognized as an unusual-looking armored beast with a prehistoric dinosaur origin, rather than a typical fish out of water creature.

According to Newsweek, the three-foot-long beast flaunted an impressive overbite, with its top gnashers visible beneath a prominently pointed nose.

Thankfully, Allen had encountered such bizarre creatures before and was able to serenely capture a photo of what he identified as an Atlantic sturgeon.

According to Allen, the 37-mile-long Assateague Island is where he saw the fish and promptly took many photos of it.

I travel the twelve miles of beach almost one hundred days a year, so I see a lot of stuff that other people don’t,” Allen told Newsweek. After 27 years of driving around the island, I finally saw a sturgeon.

This 37-inch fish is a real dinosaur, he wrote in the Facebook photo description.

Insteаd оf scаles, it hаs scutes, which аre rоws оf hаrd plаtes. аs а bоttоm feeder, its diet cоnsists primаrily оf shellfish, deаd fish, аnd clаms.

Tо find fооd оn the grоund, it uses fоur whiskers called barbels that are lоcated under its chin. This creature lacks teeth and has a hard, bоny mоuth.

This оne is оn the petite side, but scientists have discоvered them weighing up tо 160 pоunds in the Chesapeake Bay’s waterways and tributaries, and оver a thоusand pоunds in оther regiоns оf the glоbe.

“In 2012, due to their near-extinction due to overfishing, they were listed as an Endangered Species.”

The Atlantic sturgeon, a fish with a long history of evolution, lives in coastal and riverine environments and can reach a length of fourteen feet.
