Denmark’s center-back Andreas Christensen set an impressive record in the 1-1 draw with Slovenia in Group C of EURO 2024.
Andreas Christensen ended 90 minutes playing for Denmark with a 100% passing accuracy. According to statistics from Opta , the Barcelona midfielder successfully completed all 99 passes in the match, an unprecedented record in EURO history.
Previously, German midfielder Toni Kroos of Germany held this record. In the opening match, which won 5-1 against Scotland, Toni Kroos made 102 passes, and 101 of them reached his teammates, achieving an accuracy rate of 99%.
Christensen joined Barcelona in the summer of 2022 after his contract with Chelsea expired, with a contract until the summer of 2026 and a release clause of 500 million euros.
Christensen’s performance is a welcome sign because the Danish player recently suffered an Achilles injury, so he was used cautiously by both Barca and the national team.
The match between Denmark and Slovenia ended 1-1 after 90 minutes of exciting and dramatic play. Denmark opened the scoring early thanks to Christian Eriksen, but they still could not take all 3 points when Slovenia equalized 1-1 in the 77th minute.
This is the first match ending in a draw in EURO 2024 after 3 days of the tournament starting. In the next match, Denmark will face champion candidate England on June 20 at Deutsche Bank Park Stadium.
