WHAT HAPPENED?

Thiago (11 years old) – is the oldest of Lionel and his wife Antonela’s three sons. The boy was born during his father’s legendary period at Camp Nou. Of Catalan descent, Thiago will be eligible to play for Spain if he can establish his own professional career.

WHAT DOES THIAGO MESSI SAY?

He is proud of his dual nationality thanks to his Argentinian parents. The youngster now wants to play for Argentina rather than La Roja. He told Mundo Deportivo of his plans for the present and future: “Playing makes me more nervous than watching my father play. I don’t do well with my left foot. I want to play for Argentina and I don’t think Spain can convince me.”

PANORAMA

While he plans to follow in his father’s footsteps at international level, Thiago has also expressed his desire to play on the same domestic stage as Barcelona. “I would like to play with Lamine Yamal,” he said when asked which current star he would like to play with.

WHAT IS THE FUTURE LIKE?

That’s entirely possible, because Yamal is only 16 years old and continues to break records with Barcelona and Spain. Currently, Thiago Messi is part of the academy system at Inter Miami – with his father playing for the first team in MLS.
