FIFA President Gianni Infantino was present at Mercedes-Benz Stadium (USA) this morning Vietnam time to watch the opening match of Copa America 2024 between Argentina and Canada.
The world’s top football leader was captured on camera sitting in the VIP stands, attentively watching the match between Argentina and Canada, with the final victory going to the defending World Cup champion, 2-0.
Mr. Infantino’s attendance at the Copa America match should have been a completely normal and unimportant thing to discuss, but in fact it created a controversy on social networks. The reason is that in the context of the EURO 2024 Finals in Germany, which has reached the second round of matches, Mr. Infantino has not watched any matches in this tournament.
In many past matches at EURO 2024, fans only saw the presence of Mr. Aleksander Ceferin – President of the European Football Federation (UEFA). This made fans wonder if the FIFA president likes to watch the Argentina team play and especially admires Lionel Messi – the owner of 8 Golden Balls.

Many fans even think that it is not surprising that Infantino is watching Copa America and Argentina instead of EURO 2024 with a series of famous teams, because he “helped Argentina win the 2022 World Cup”.
Mr. Infantino began serving as FIFA president in 2016. Last March, the 54-year-old man was re-elected as FIFA president for the 2023-2027 term after receiving the support of the majority of member federations.
