After leading the Celtics to a five-game NBA Finals victory over the Dallas Mavericks, the team’s seasoned center finally won a title in his playing career.
After a little vacation, Horford plans to begin preparing for the upcoming season, as he revealed.
In all candor, I intend to return. Horford informed the press that this was the strategy.
Our offseason and its structure have already been discussed. I intend to take a little break at the moment, but I will resume training in a few weeks and gradually ramp up my efforts. I will be prepared to leave.
It will be Horford’s 18th season with the NBA. However, his professional longevity beyond next season is still uncertain to him.
“I am in a good place, and I want to stay that way. I am aware that I need to proceed with caution both before and during the season.
With Kristaps Porzingis missing for most of the Celtics’ postseason run, Horford was an essential cog in the wheel.
During the 2024 playoffs, he had an average of 9.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.
Free Agent Signs Player Option with Boston Celtics
Oshae Brissett, a forward who spent last season with the Boston Celtics, may find a new team to play for this summer. Keith Smith of Spotrac reports that Brissett is now free to sign with any team he wants after turning down a $2.5 million player option for the 2024–25 season. The wage cap issue in Boston makes Brissett’s re-signing with the organization in the summer quite doubtful.
After playing with the Indiana Pacers for three years, Brissett was signed by the Celtics last summer. The 26-year-old had a solid first year with the Celtics, averaging 3.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. In addition, Brissett had a field goal percentage of 44.4% and a three-point percentage of 27.3%. In Boston’s 4–0 loss to the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals, Brissett had seven points, three boards, and one block, en route to his first NBA title.
Brissett is also included on Canada’s preliminary Olympic roster.
