Richard Jefferson attributes the criticism of JJ Redick’s hiring on the Lakers front management

JJ Redick will be the Los Angeles Lakers’ new head coach coming into the 2019–20 season. The former NBA player’s skill as a TV analyst may be contested, but Redick’s lack of coaching expertise worries a lot of fans. This has drawn a lot of criticism for the newly hired coach as well as the Lakers management. Richard Jefferson, though, believes that the team’s front office bears a greater portion of the blame for the backlash.

In a recent episode of the Road Trippin’ podcast, Jefferson stated, “I think that part of the criticism had to do with JJ, and a lot of it had to do with the Lakers and their organization.” Like, how about we play a fictitious game? If Gregg Popovich were to retire and JJ were to take over his position, and Pop were to go into the front office and assume the role of Pat Riley, they would tell JJ that he would become Erik Spoelstra.The criticism would, in my opinion, be far less severe. You consider the organization to be a secure environment. Alright, this is what they will do. They plan to assemble a youthful team and take care of other matters.
