Patrick Mahomes and wife Brittany invest $80M to just for female athletes – Historic new soccer stadium for women

On Thursday, a significant announcement was made regarding the construction of the very first stadium in the history of the globe that was designed specifically for use by women’s soccer teams. A naming rights agreement was announced by Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany, who is also a co-owner of the Kansas City Current squad in the National Women’s Soccer League. As part of a 10-year agreement, the brand-new stadium will be known as CPKC Stadium when it opens. However, CPKC has not published the whole amount that they paid for the naming rights to the stadium.

The National Women’s Soccer League was founded in 2012 and features a total of 12 clubs in its current iteration. When the stadium is finally finished being built in 2024, it will be a watershed moment in the history of women’s sports. The women’s soccer team is the primary focus of this brand-new stadium, with the primary objective being to increase fan support while also providing adequate amenities.

A watershed moment in the history of women’s athletics

Brittany Mahomes posted the wonderful news about the first stadium to be built specifically for the use of a women’s professional sports club on her Instagram account. This venue’s name has been changed to CPKC Stadium effective immediately. About one hundred twenty million dollars are scheduled to be spent on this structure. Because of the substantial amount of money that they have put into this endeavor, Patrick and Brittany, co-owners of Kansas City Current, are one of the primary driving forces behind it.

Along with the naming rights, CPKC will also have the rights to the outdoor gathering place at the stadium, which will be known as CPKC Plaza. This space will also serve as the permanent location of the team store for the Current. The stadium will place an emphasis on both sustainability and inclusiveness.

The current capacity of the stadium is 11,500, however it has the potential to be enlarged all the way up to 22,000. The park at which the stadium may be found is called Berkeley Riverfront Park. It is planned to leave the corners of the stadium open so that spectators may get a good look at the cityscape. There are two grass fields there. At the end of August, the field was laid out and prepared. The luxury area and the players’ benches are both set to go at this point.

It is expected to be finished by March 2024. After the completion of the stadium, the current team will train and play at this facility. Currently, the team plays at Children’s Mercy Park. An interesting fact about this project is that it is mostly led by women.

The power couple is heavily investing in the sports world

Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, have established themselves as a power couple in the sports world. They are co-owners of the National Women’s Soccer League team, Kansas City Current. Brittany aims to popularize women’s soccer not only in Kansas City but throughout the country.

Brittany herself is a former women’s soccer player. She played for UT Tyler before shifting to Iceland for her professional career. Their dedication to women’s soccer is evident from the $80 million investment they made in the new stadium, which is being built exclusively for the women’s pro team.

Patrick and Brittany began their involvement in the Kansas City sports scene almost immediately after Patrick joined the Kansas City Chiefs as a player. At the moment, Patrick is a co-owner of the Kansas City Royals baseball team. They have made it abundantly obvious that they intend to stay in the Kansas City area for a significant amount of time, and the investments that they have made reflect this commitment.

The Mahomes family currently owns an interest in almost all of the professional sports teams in Kansas City, with the exception of the Kansas City Chiefs, who are a member of the National Football League.
