The 1970 Mustang was a watershed year for the pony car. The 1969 redesign gave the automobile a bigger, more muscular appearance, and the 1970 version expanded upon that. A more prominent grille and hood scoop were among the noticeable alterations, and the availability of the powerful Boss 302 and Boss 429 high-performance versions were also noteworthy.

These formidable Mustangs have a devoted fan base in Lakeland. At their frequent gatherings, local classic vehicle groups showcase immaculate 1970 models. For more than ten years, John Sampson of the neighborhood has been the proud owner of a 1970 Mustang Grande in Grabber Blue.

“This car has been a labor of love,” Sampson told the reporter. It was well worth the years I spent getting it back to showroom condition. To this day, Mustang fans still can’t get enough of the 1970 model year because of its unique style and performance.

At the many vintage automobile events held in Lakeland, Sampson’s Mustang is a common sight. People can’t help but notice the striking paint job, luxurious Deluxe inside, and potent 351 cubic inch V8 engine.

“These cars have such an iconic status, and they really took the Mustang to new heights in terms of style and performance,” said Sampson. “It’s fun to see how much excitement they can still generate, even 50 years later.”

Undoubtedly, the 1970 Ford Mustang has made an everlasting impression on the world of automobiles. And in Lakeland, Florida, this vintage pony car is still loved and cherished by those who value its history and heritage.
