As the 2024 NBA free agency season gets going, the connections between Zach LaVine and Trae Young and the Los Angeles Lakers have reappeared once more. The onus now rests on the Lakers, who have not yet made a trade, as clubs from both conferences have already dealt with household names. LaVine was purportedly offered by the Bulls to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for Andrew Wiggins and Chris Paul, but the trade fell through. This reinserts the guard into the Lakers rumors once more, as Young—who left Klutch to be represented by CAA—is once more connected to the Purple and Gold.
The front staff has reportedly contacted the Hawks and the Bulls about a possible deal in an effort to add a third superstar to LeBron James and Anthony Davis, according to NBA deal Report on Twitter (previously X).
“Trae Young and Zach LaVine trades with Atlanta and Chicago have been contemplated by the Lakers. Though nothing is set in stone, Los Angeles believes that adding “Star” talent is the only way to develop. #NBAPutting contracts aside, one or both of these players’ fit will be in doubt. Even while LaVine and Young solve the team’s shooting problems and are surefire scoring threats, their mediocre defense may work against them.
It had previously been stated that Young’s 25-year-old departure from his Klutch connection made a contract with LA less possible. He shoots 37.3 percent from three-point range and 43.0 percent from the field, averaging 25.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 10.8 assists. This season, he was only able to play in 54 games as Atlanta concluded with a 36-46 record and missed the playoffs.
