Cucurella, a defender for Spain, thinks Williams would be a “great signing” for Barcelona, but he also says he wants him to sign with Chelsea this summer. After starting his professional career with Barça, Cucurella played for Getafe, Brighton, and now Chelsea after making just one appearance for the Spanish giants in 2019.

‘He is a tremendous player, he is bringing out all his potential,’ Cucurella told Spanish publication SPORT when asked about Williams.

Having him as a teammate and an integral part of our squad makes us proud, and we have an easier time of things when he is on the field.Whether or not Barcelona signs him depends on his desires, but he would be a fantastic addition to the team. I’ve been urging him to join Chelsea for a while now…

Everything will come down to him; he’s young and seasoned, after all. His potential as a player is enormous.

On Friday night, Luis de la Fuente’s Spain will face off against the hosts Germany in an exciting quarterfinal match. Spain has been the tournament’s outstanding team thus far, but they’ll need to be at their best to advance.

“The outcome of this match will depend on minute details,” “On Spain’s quarterfinal tie,” Cucurella stated. This is our strongest suit—playing one-on-one battles. We’ve had success against formidable opponents like Croatia and Italy, but we know we need to do better in this upcoming encounter. Hopefully, we’ll come out on top.

Following Enzo Maresca’s appointment as Chelsea manager, Cucurella will not be playing for Mauricio Pochettino’s squad next season.

We need to be patient, not make so many changes, and be more tranquil now that a good coach has arrived, he added. Our season came to a close in Europe, where we went on to play in the final and semi-finals. The year wasn’t terrible, but we didn’t win. “Maybe we can create something worthwhile.”

Earlier this week, Cucurella helped seal a £5 million transfer for teenage striker Marc Guiu from Barcelona to Stamford Bridge.

“We spoke and I told him that he should let me know if he needed anything,” the 25-year-old added.

“We’re going to take care of him so that he can play his best football,” the coach said, “and I’m happy because he’s a great player, very young, with a very promising future.”
