The breathtaking new base of Michael Jordan’s 23XI NASCAR racing team, complete with ping pong, air hockey, and piles of his signature footwear, left Michael Jordan in awe.
On a tour of the North Carolina facility, the NBA icon exclaimed, “Man, oh man.” The building measured 114,000 square feet.
The ‘Airspeed’ base in Huntersville was co-designed by Denny Hamlin and Jordan, who owns 23XI with the driver. In his address to the facility’s employees, Jordan said, “You guys earned this, I love it,” with several acknowledgments to the two co-owners. Items such as Denny’s fire suit, helmets, and awards are on display in one conference room.
Hundreds of Air Jordans, arranged in a No. 23 shape, are another. As Jordan entered the room, he made a joke about how much better everything was.Hаmlin kept аll fоrty-five pаirs оf nаme-brаnd sneаkers in his bаsement. Repоrtedly, MJ mаde а jоke аbоut hоw he shоuld weаr size 13 gаme sneаkers insteаd.
‘Airspeed’ features 23 hues that connect to a famous Jordan sneaker, including Chicago Bulls red on several walls. As he drew inspiration for the facility’s architecture from NBA and NHL arenas, Hamlin envisioned the track as a winning venue for the team.
Around three years ago, after watching a documentary about the Mercedes Formula 1 team, the driver started working on preliminary sketches.
Over the course of eight months, Hamlin got his hands filthy restocking the break room’s plates, silverware, plants, ping pong table, and hockey table.
“They’re getting the feel of being an athlete,” Jordan stated during his tour. With the words “you keep winning, we keep improving,” he addressed the employees.
