Barcelona are working hard to tie down young talent coming through La Masia to new contracts and secure their future in the long term.
A number of renewals have already been closed by the Blaugrana and more are being worked upon. As reported on Thursday, the Catalans have reached a total agreement to renew 15-year-old wonderkid Toni Fernandez.
Now, SPORT reports that Barcelona are in talks to secure the contract extension of another talented La Masia ace with a bright future.
Barcelona want to renew Pau Prim
Indeed, as per the report, Barcelona are eager to renew the contract of Pau Prim and have begun talks with the 18-year-old prodigy over a new deal.
Pau Prim is regarded as one of the most talented youngsters coming through the ranks at La Masia. A defensive midfielder by trade, the teenage starlet featured in 14 games for Rafa Marquez’s Barça Atletic this past season.
Now with Marc Casado set for a promotion to the senior team, Prim is expected to get a more prominent role with the subsidiary squad while Hansi Flick will also keep an eye on him as an option for the first team.
Prim’s current contract with Barcelona expires next year and as such, the Blaugrana are intent on securing his renewal soon.
Talks are already underway over the new contract, with Prim also eager to stay put at Barça and continue rising through the ranks.
With the renewals of Pau Cubarsi, Hector Fort, and Marc Casado secured and Marc Bernal also set to ink a new deal, Pau Prim could be the next youngster in line to commit his future to Barcelona.
