“I don’t have much time left,” LeBron James says, implying retirement following 40 against the Nets.

Father Time might be perfect, but LeBron James is most certainly running for his money.

Leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a 116-104 victory in Brooklyn on Sunday night with his best 3-point shooting showing of his remarkable career, the 39-year-old James scored 40 points — including 9-of- 10 from beyond the arc.

The NBA’s all-time top scorer later said that he knows retirement is approaching even if he is still performing at a high level.

James remarked, “Not very long,” when asked how much longer he intends to play. “I am clearly on the opposite side of the hill. I’m not going to play another 21 years, for sure. not very long, though. I have little time left but I’m not sure what or when that door will close—that is, when I retire.”Still, James is a force as long as he is on the floor.

His second effort after turning 39 in December was against the Nets, 40 points. Being the only players in NBA history to score 40 or more points in several games at that age, he joined Michael Jordan. Jordan completed it three times.

James is connecting on 41.6% of his tries, hence his 3-point shooting season is maybe even more remarkable.

“I’m not one of those guys that wants to go out and shoot 12, 14 or 15 3s per game,” James said. ” Teams have to play me from the outside though; I want to be respected. Still, that’s rather one thing teams (consider). “We would much prefer him shoot the ball from the outside if we had to sacrifice anything.”
