Buddy Hield Provides His Opinion on the New Nickname for the Warriors’ Backcourt

This upcoming NBA season, the Golden State Warriors will adopt a slightly altered appearance, as Klay Thompson has departed the team.

In an effort to replicate the productivity that Thompson provided for approximately a decade, they have recruited another sharpshooter named Buddy Hield.

AD Thompson and Stephen Curry, his longstanding backcourt starting partner, were previously referred to as the “Splash Brothers.” Some have proposed that Curry and Hield be referred to as the “Splash Buddies.”

According to 95.7 The Game, Hield was queried about the appellation and appears to have no objections.

“I see no fault with it; however, we must proceed on a day-to-day basis,” Hield stated.Although Hield has never been the same level of overall scoring threat as Thompson was during his prime, he is currently a more accurate 3-point shooter than Thompson at this juncture in his career.

Thompson has been inconsistent from game to game, despite his ability to fire in the high 30s from downtown, since he sustained injuries to his ACL and Achilles a few years ago.

Conversely, Hield has consistently maintained his 3-point accuracy over the course of the years.

This past season, he averaged 12.1 points per game while shooting 38.6 percent from that distance for the Indiana Pacers and the Philadelphia 76ers.

In general, the Warriors, who have won four NBA championships in the past decade, have not made any progress since the 2024 NBA Playoffs, when they were eliminated. Nevertheless, they remain optimistic about the possibility of executing a significant transfer to regain their status as a contender.
