Joel Embiid, JJ Redick’s former teammate, has reservations regarding the Lakers’ coaching position

Joel Embiid has expressed his unfiltered opinions regarding JJ Redick’s assumption of the Lakers’ head coaching position and has issued a cautionary tale.

Despite Redick’s lack of prior NBA coaching experience, he has been appointed as the head coach in Los Angeles. Embiid believes that this could be a disastrous situation for the former Sixer.

“If I were him, I am uncertain if that is an ideal situation,” Embiid stated in an interview with The New York Times. “Perhaps he perceives that as an ideal circumstance.” However, for those who are entering the field, particularly with a position such as the Lakers, it is a critical moment, as success would result in a long-term coaching career. However, instructors who fail to achieve success are typically terminated within a year or two. I have affection for him and am delighted for him; however, that is an extremely demanding position.

No Lakers coach has endured for more than three seasons in the past 13 years.

Mike Brown, the current head coach of the Kings and a former assistant coach to the Warriors, was terminated from the Lakers’ top position five games into his second season with the club in 2012.

He regrets accepting the position in the first place.

“I probably wouldn’t,” Brown stated on the All the Smoke podcast last year, “if I could do it again.”

Nevertheless, Redick must surpass Darvin Ham’s 90-74 record with the Lakers.

The ex-sharpshooter is realistic about the responsibilities he is taking on and has significant aspirations for the team.

During his introductory press conference in June, Redick stated, “I just want to say, sitting in this seat, I know what the expectations are for the Lakers.” “The Lakers fans are among the most passionate in the world, and there is a high expectation for a championship. Therefore, it is incumbent upon me, Rob Pelinka, and all of us to produce a championship-caliber team. “That is the purpose for which I registered.”
