According to talkSPORT’s sources, Trevoh Chalobah will not be joining Chelsea on their preseason tour of the United States.
Crystal Palace has expressed interest in purchasing the defender from Chelsea this summer.Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi, and Tosin Adarabioyo—all players signed by Chelsea this summer—have all been selected to represent the club in the United States.
The club clearly did not take the decision to bench Chalobah lightly.
However, this choice has not been well-received by Chelsea supporters, including Rory Jennings of talkSPORT.
On Transfer Insiders, Jennings responded to the news by saying, “They’ve omitted Chalobah from the pre-season squad, he deserves so much more respect than that.”Instead of simply leaving him off the team, they should treat him with respect.
“I admire Trevoh Chalobah and his rise through the ranks at the Cobham Academy… However, regardless of whether sentimentality is taken into account, he remains the club’s top central defender.
Chelsea signed Chalobah when he was eight years old, and he has been on the books for seventeen years.
Despite committing to a professional deal in 2018, Chalobah was loaned out three times before making his senior Blues debut, a delay of three years. When he made his debut, he helped Chelsea win the Super Cup by defeating Villarreal in the final.
Bayern Munich and West Ham were interested in Chalobah in the past, but he hasn’t been able to cement his place in Chelsea’s starting lineup.Chelsea signed the 25-year-old to a new long-term contract in November 2022, making him more difficult to sell. His current contract runs until 2028.
On Thursday morning, Chelsea will play Wrexham as part of their tour of the United States. On Saturday night, they will face Celtic.
