Barcelona have confirmed the signing of MLS star Mamadou Mbacke.

Barcelona have officially announced the signing of centre-back Mamadou Mbacke from Los Angeles FC. The deal runs until 2026 with an option to extend for a further two years. Mbacke, who has enjoyed an impressive season on loan at Barca Atletic, will officially join the Catalan club this summer.

In their official statement, Barcelona stressed: “FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with Los Angeles FC for the transfer of player Mamadou Mbacke Fall. The Senegalese central defender will sign a two-season contract, running until June 30, 2026, with an option to extend for a further two years. Mbacke played last season at Barca Atletic on loan from the American team.”

The signing of Mbacke was seen as a quick and necessary move by Barcelona after Jorthy Mokio decided to leave the team to join Ajax. Barca reportedly agreed a transfer fee of half of the original €4 million purchase option. At the same time, Mbacke also signed a new four-year contract with the club, marking an important step in his career.

Mamadou Mbacke, 21, showed his talent and played a key role in Barca Atletic’s promotion push last season. He is an integral part of the squad and has great potential to compete for a regular place in Barcelona’s first team. If Mikayil Faye leaves the club, Mbacke will have the opportunity to prove himself and cement his place in the first team.

Currently, coach Hansi Flick and his players are in the United States to prepare for the new season. Barcelona will have their first friendly match against Manchester City, the reigning English champions, on July 30.
