The addition of Moises Caicedo to the Chelsea squad in the US gives Enzo Maresca more alternatives.

The Blues’ pre-season tour has taken flight, and they’ll be playing five games in the span of two weeks, beginning on Wednesday night in California with a match against Wrexham.

Following his participation in the Copa America with Ecuador last summer, Caicedo was not named in Chelsea’s 28-man tour squad that was revealed on Monday.

After the Blues stated that Caicedo was now in the USA with the rest of the group, he was added to the list of confirmed midfielders, which already included Lesley Ugochukwu, Romeo Lavia, Andrey Santos, Carney Chukwuemeka, and new recruit Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Before Ecuador were eliminated by Argentina in the Copa America, the 22-year-old appeared in every one of his team’s matches. Caicedo played the entire 90 minutes in the match less than three weeks ago.This week, Maresca’s squad played Wrexham; this weekend, they’ll face Celtic and Club America.

After their match against Manchester City on August 3 in Ohio, Chelsea will play a high-profile friendly versus Real Madrid in North Carolina three days later to finish the tour.

In addition to Dewsbury-Hall, the tour roster includes Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Renato Veiga, and Wesley Fofana, who all returned from injury-plagued seasons, and Christopher Nkunku.

Chelsea is anticipated to increase their efforts to find a buyer for defender Trevoh Chalobah this summer, although he has been excluded. The 25-year-old has until 2028 to play out his contract at Stamford Bridge, and rumor has it that he is eager to prove himself to Maresca.
